The Process
1 Fill out and submit application (pitching
) (hitting
)
2 Schedule and conduct the Initial Evaluation
3 Upon acceptance, pay and schedule first lesson
The purpose of the application
We want the instruction to be worthwhile and successful for the player. There are no quick fixes.
We don’t do “tune ups”. Therefore, there are certain elements that we look for in a player:
- Attitude- He must be respectful and eager to learn, listen, experiment, try new things and continually challenge himself.
- Work Ethic- He must give his best at all times – 100%
- Commitment- He must love baseball, be persistent and typically resilient to temporary failures, challenges and set-backs. He should possess a strong desire to perform beyond his current level
of play.- Parents who are supportive but not intrusive- His parents must be helpful; must view their child as a capable, responsible, honorable young person who is ultimately accountable for his own failures and successes.
The Initial Evaluation
The players are assessed in several areas ranging from their flexibility and stability to their throwing mechanics. Based upon the player’s goals and our evaluation, we will recommend a course of action.
This initial evaluation typically lasts 45 minutes.
The First Lesson
Your first lesson will be 30 minutes long and comprised of an in depth evaluation including a thorough qualitative video analysis and several key quantitative measurements including radar readings. We will use this information to set goals and determine the focus for the lessons. There will be limited skill work during this session. The athlete will warm-up on his own prior to the start of the lesson.
Subsequent Lessons
All instructional sessions will last 30 minutes. The athlete must be completely warmed up prior to the start of all lessons. We will not start until the athlete is fully warm, so please arrive in time to insure that this happens. The lessons will consist of drills specially designed to facilitate the motor learning process. This is our area of expertise and distinguishes us from other instructors. This is a major contributor in what makes us better, more efficient and more effective at teaching. Before we attempt to pitch or hit a baseball, we train ideal mechanics, movements, sequences and positions without a baseball. When the athlete is ready to use a baseball, we systematically blend the drills to prepare him for full speed game action. The bottom line is that before an athlete can change to the preferred…he must first feel where he is now. The old conventional method is very ineffective.
Minimum Requirements
In our experience 10 lessons are required to make any real change. The recommended frequency is once a week. However, once every two weeks is still effective. You will have a maximum of 20 weeks to use your 10 lessons.
